Your character's name:[/b] Shiftgear
Breed is Felhunter[/b]
The Felhunter[/b]
~Roughly 2.4 feet tall(exluding stalks at top)
~Roughly 4 feet long
~Roughly 109 pounds
~Roughly twelve years old
-------------------------------------
Features, Effects, & Abilities
~Tail measuring a foot and a half long, pretty much for looks, but can whip things, causing an annoying, but very small, pain. It never causes bleeding, unless the afflicted thing is deeply wounded and/or has a disorder that causes them to be very soft on the outside.
~He's blind, but he makes up for that very well. He has a very enhanced sense of smell and hearing, and the black stalks that protrude from his back and tower upward have an effect. The stalks allow him to detect heat, but the range is 5-10 feet. Very handy, which definitly makes up for him being blind. The stalks also act as antennae, feeling around for him.
~He has a mouth full of teeth, which are very sharp, but also somewhat small. Being 0.7 inches long, there are many of them, and they are handy at many times.
~Two horns curve upward, protruding from the side of the shoulders. They are two weird structures, but are effective for stopping frontal assaults. They measure 8-9 inches long.
~One of the most noticeable features, besides the fact that he has no eyes, is that he doesn't have paws, feet--not even claws. He has a single, but pretty big, claw, curved, to susbtitute for the feet. They work just as well, and can allow him to reach speeds of up to 30-45 mph. Quite handy indeed.
~Nice thick fur, furry mane, keeps him nice and warm and makes his flesh harder to penetrate, though it is definitly penetrable, mostly by sharp claws and fangs, some teeth if they rip enough and/or are big and sharp enough.
~Lives to be several hundred years old, a big advantage. His species has no "old" form, so he stays as he looks from age. Nothing comes of age, except perhaps he may forget some things.
--------------------------------------
Diseases, Disavantages, & Downsides[/b]
~Tail - The tail sticks out far, so it is somewhat easy to pin him down by putting a defiant paw/claw/whatever on the tail. It also bleeds a lot.
~Being blind, the stalks are very vital to him, for they act as antennae, and removing them from the body will give him a great decrease in survival performance. However, they will grow back, within 3-7 days. During which he becomes very concentrated, to listen for hints as to what his environment and surroundings are like.
~The teeth regrow back quite quickly, but this can only happen if the tooth/teeth are 85% or more removed. If not, it will not regrow--it doesn't really regrow, another tooth replaces it. For this to happen, the tooth/teeth has to have 85% of it removed from the gum. This way, the tooth that is going to replace it can shove the broken tooth/teeth out of the way. The teeth regrow back in a day, and several can grow back in the same day. Since 85% of the tooth has to be removed from the gum, most of the time he will not regrow back the tooth.
~The horns are deadly indeed, but if you look closely, the base of it is thinnest, measuring roughly 1-2 inches across. You could slice the horns off if you aimed correctly, and aiming at the skin that it grows into will remove it effectively. They can regrow, but this takes quite some time, usually averaging between 1-2 weeks. This regrowth requires much time because the horn itself is made of much fiber and is made of a hard substance. The felhunter has to eat healthy and grind up certain ferns and eat healthy meats for the horns to regrow. During this time, the felhunter is quite vulnerable, for frontal attacks aren't deflected anymore. You could duck under the horns when they are there. The horns also fall off naturally once every 1-2 months, so whether or not they are removed by an animal or by accident or not, the felhunter will always be vulnerable at points.
~The big claws are quite useful, but like most parts of him, there are disadvantages to it. Since it is a single pretty big claw, there is less stability, though he has typically good gripping. That is due to a little heel-spike, which you can't see. It is approximately 0.4 inches long, and digs into the ground for stability. But the claw has less gripping than a paw, so that is one disadvantage.
~The thick fur can make him hot during hot days, which is a bad thing, and can often make him uncomfortable. It does not look ANYTHING like fur, it is rather skin-looking.
~The age thing comes with a disadvantage as well: He will watch friends die as he lives on.
